Welcome to the Broken World.
You can't even remember how you got here.
All you know is that one moment you were in a world you were used to, comfortable in. It might have been a regular day or the most important day of your life, in the middle of a meal or brushing your teeth or the battle to save the world or the moment of your death. Whoever took you didn't seem to care what you were doing when you were taken, and now that you're here, they still don't seem to care.
You wake up after what seems like the blink of an eye, nauseous and dizzy but otherwise unscathed, possessions taken away, barefoot and dressed only in a set of plain grey clothing, like the most bland uniform ever imagined, in an empty room with empty walls and one single door with a small barred window and a single number printed just above it. The door is locked and cannot be broken by any means, you can feel your connection with any superhuman powers you had severed, leaving them just out of reach - you can feel them there, tingling at your fingertips or in the back of your brain, but you just can't get to them. There is no one to greet you or explain what's happening. You start to lose track of time, the only sound the distant ticking of what sounds like a massive clock.
Just when things seem hopeless, when you feel like you're about to go mad, there's the sound of a commotion outside your door. The sounds of a battle, or perhaps an infiltration gone just slightly wrong. Either way, when the door opens, there is a figure there with a hand outstretched.
"Welcome to the Broken World. Come on, we'll explain everything just as soon as we get you and the others out of here."
Annexed
Annexed is a mission-based sci-fantasy panfandom game set on the Broken World, comprised of two planets that crashed into each other aeons ago. Characters are kidnapped by the Sylphid, a race of magical creatures who reproduce by hollowing out the bodies of sentient creatures and inhabiting them, but immediately freed by an underground rebellion group called the Witches who seek to restore the world to what it was before the Sylphid annexed it. Characters joining the Witches are promised either a new home on their restored world, or access to the magitech that brought them to this world so they can return to their own. They are also tied to the energy of one of the planets - Heba or Tian - which will grant them the opportunity to develop different powers, and tasked with finding a Tether with someone tied to the energy of the opposite planet in order to maintain their energy balance lest they die slowly while losing their minds.
New mission logs will be posted at the start of every other month, and may be geared toward stealth and information gathering, guerilla supply raids, open battles, creation and spreading of propaganda, the rescue of new arrivals from the Sylphid, or any other goal to assist the rebellion. Missions can be played independently through player planning, or players may request mod handholding in a D&D-lite play style with occasional mod direction and scene-setting.
Depending on what role they would prefer to play, characters may either have the powers suppression and tracking chip embedded in them by the Sylphid removed to regain use of their powers at the cost of instant recognition as rebels when they enter Sylphid territory; or they may keep the tracking and suppression chips in place and retain the ability to move silently and anonymously through enemy territory to more easily gather intel and steal supplies. The choice is up to them, but once they make it, it can't be undone.
